FreeSync on GTX 1080?

SlimeyStuff
Go to solution Solved by Uptivuptiz,

Nope! GTX only supports G-Sync

Currently on my way to pick up my new 1080 (upgrading from the R9 290) and I just remembered that a Nvidia card won't work with my FreeSync monitor... right?

I mean, they obviously won't have any official support but since FreeSync is based on the VESA adaptive sync standard, isn't there any way to get it working with a Nvidia card?

Getting the card either way but it would be great if I could keep using FreeSync.

Thanks!

FreeSync will not work, but the display will work just fine with the card.

Anyone think that Nvidia GPUs would be able to be made to work with FreeSync through just software implementation?

Dammit! Oh well, a 1080 with 144hz in 1440p will still be awesome.

That I knew. Even though it sounded like I didn't, now when I read OP again. xD

You may want to edit that again.

From my understanding of the technology, yes. But they wouldn't do that officially since they want to sell their Gsync monitors.

I'm hoping that a 3rd party rogue coder hacks some drivers to get Nvidia working with FreeSync.
