I recently built my rig with:

i5 6600k

Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo

Gigabyte z170x gaming 3

Nvidia GTX 1070 FE

16gb Crucial RAM

750gb Crucial MX300 SSD

EVGA 650w PSU

Win10 Edu edition

Whenever I start up my machine, it'll run fine for anywhere from 5-20 min then just freeze. This only occurs when I'm surfing the web or just leaving it idle though. If I play a game, I have no issues.

After trying every fix I could find online, I took it to a repair shop where they boiled it down to a faulty GPU. They tried using different PSUs, SSDs with different versions of Win10, and different RAM, and got the same freezing until the GPU was removed.

At home, when I switch out my GPU, I have no issues, but when I put in my 1070, it freezes. I was able to run stress tests with FurMark and Heaven with no issues. If it doesn't freeze before I start a game, I have no issues. It's only when I'm doing relatively little that it freezes on me.

Has anyone else had a problem like this? Does that sound like a faulty GPU? Will Nvidia let me utilize my warranty if the stress tests show no errors?
