Cpu mobo will it work?

Go to solution Solved by mgsstar,

The cpu will work with the motherboard since it supports "Phenom with Quad Core (Agena) technology (AM2+) up to 9600 (up to 95 watt)" and your cpu is only 9150 and is 65W.

So I have a phenomx4 at 1.8gh and I have this mobo  http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=us&lc=en&dlc=en&docname=c01357135

Can I use them? will they run?

And is there anything I can use instead of thermal paste?

I like the color scheme of Noctua fans. Deal with it. Forget about the bad memories of the past.

I dont think there is a substitute for thermal compound.

To add on to this.

AM3 (not AM3+) is backwards compatible with AM2+ (not AM2).

also no, there is no substitution for thermal compound. Don't even try it.

Okay so the cpu and mobo will work!!! Yes okay this makes me very happy :)

And I will hold on and get some real thermal compound :)

I don't know the specifics of that processor, so keep in mind the 95w TDP of the motherboard.

How old is that Phenom CPU? Could you give some more specs on it. Some newer Phenom CPUs use the FM chipset and if that is the case they won't work on the given motherboard. Please give us the full spec of your particular processor or at least the year when it originally came out on the market so that I can be more helpful.

No, thank you, that is enough. If it from year 2006, It is most likely using the AM2+ chipset and therefor will work on that board.

The cpu will work with the motherboard since it supports "Phenom with Quad Core (Agena) technology (AM2+) up to 9600 (up to 95 watt)" and your cpu is only 9150 and is 65W.
