I am loooming to get an android phone to replace my Ipad Mini 2.

I am purchasing in Australia and these are my requirements for it.

Requirements:

1080p 5.5" screen

Ability to run Android 6.0 or greater

Ability to view VR Video and play VR games (If possible)

Future proof for at least 2 years

Expandable storage and if not 64gb of storage or greater

Nice additons:

Fingerprint sensor

Gorilla Glass

Aluminum Backplate

This phone will be used for emulation, social media such as Reddit and Snapchat (So no permanent rooting please!) and most other basic phone uses. This means I won't require any crazy power like the latest flagships

I have already considered 2 phones these being the Moto G4 Plus and Xaiomi Redmi Note 3 or 4. I am willing to pay up to $350 AUD so I have some money left over for accessories like a 64gb SD card.

Thanks for any suggestions and help that I am given! ;)

The Kogan Agora 6 Plus has all those fetures covered, or you can also look toward the the Meizu m3 note although i am unsure as to weather it can be upgraded to android marshmallow.

I'm just thinking Nexus 6P, since you'll get:

  • The power for VR
  • The large screen
  • The latest Android
  • "Futureproofing"
  • Fingerprint reader
  • Gorilla glass 4
  • Aluminum design

The Moto G4 lacks one of the sensors for VR if I remember rightly. However, if you don't mind the step back in quality, then that's a pretty good option too. A good middle ground here would be the Oneplus 3, so definitely look into that!

I edit my posts a lot.

After digging around, unless i've been looking in the wrong places or for not long enough, the kogan that MrDrWho12 recommended seems to be your best bet for your budget, in the sense that If you want a "2 year" future proof phone you're going to be looking at hashing out 750 aud or so, although obviously you're going to be getting a few more luxury upgrades with it.

I completely see your point. I suppose those by future proof, I mean will be usable for 2-3 years and will get regular updates.

I would love to get one of those 2, but they are about $600~ over here in Australia. I find myself leaning towards the Redmi Note 4 for its premium feel and affordable price tag. Found one for $220 AUD, which leaves for than enough for accessories :)

Thanks though.

Don't sweat it. Don't really know if I want a Kogan phone though. I will have to look into some reviews though and see how it is.

Thanks ;)

I mean that really just is it huh?

it's one of those situations where its got the specs, but it's quite sketch, they don't have good warranty or something of the other, it's built and feels cheap, and something's "wrong" with it even if you haven't found out what yet, honestly I know it's one of those painfully dumb answers to read, but if you're able to get the extra 150$ and justify the purchase you're going to be able to very easily find what you're looking for.

Haha yeah I know exactly what you mean. Just found another one that I may have to consider though (Too many options!). Its the Xaiomi Mi5. I will do some more research though and see what I can come up with.
