I have a mouse that is by steelseries here is a pic

S3Sm.jpgThis mouse has served me pretty well but I want to know if it really is time for an upgrade since I got this form a thrift store for 5$ after all. It is the steelseries Worl of Warcraft MMO gaming mouse. Not the cataclysm verison not legendary just the orginal. It has a laser sensor but I don't know which one. Can someone find the sensor for me? Also I would like to know some good ways to test this mouses sensor. thanks!

It uses a 3200dpi laser sensor, which isn't bad.

Personally, though, I would get an upgrade for a couple reasons:

1. It's used - You never know where that mouse had been. I may be crazy but I prefer my peripherals to have only been used by me.

2. It's old - Even though a 3200dpi sensor isn't terrible, the mouse itself is relatively ancient, having come out almost 7 years ago.

3. It's unreliable - A quick look on Amazon shows that this mouse has 33% 1-star reviews, more than any other category. While it may have treated you well thus far, you never know, and I sure wouldn't want to risk a game of CS:GO on a potentially shoddy mouse.

This is of course my opinion, and you do what you would like.

If you do decide it is time to upgrade though, here are some really strong options:

Razer Death Adder (My personal mouse, Love it): http://www.razerzone.com/ca-en/store/razer-deathadder-chroma

If you are still looking for a more mmo oriented choice, The Logitech G600: http://gaming.logitech.com/en-ca/product/g600-mmo-gaming-mouse

Or if you just want something cheap and reliable, the Redragon M601: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00HTK1NCS/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&linkCode=sl1&tag=ttgshort-20&linkId=4827006fd40e4ebfcdda5d6d01a5034f

well dpi isn't all that matters. the Microsoft intellimouse has a near flawless sensor but 400 dpi. Do you know the model of the sensor? And most pro gamers play on low dpi anyway. High dpi doesn't make a sensor better

Like I said, the mouse is pretty old. I searched around on a lot of old forums and even the steel series website itself, but most places didn't show your mouse, and when they did, they didn't show specs like the model of sensor it used. From what I've read however, it isn't a very good one. As I said above, it has very poor reviews, and a lot of people mentioned that the sensor wasn't responding intermittently, or not at all.

Regardless of what sensor is in your mouse however, I would still get a new one for the reasons in my original post
