Here in the next weekend, I'm gonna try to get my old PC running on it's feet again. I will continue to upgrade it as time goes on, like a new case. But I won't get anything until next weekend. Until then, here are the current specs:

 

Slot 1 Pentium 3 @ 500MHz (100MHz FSB, 512KB cache, 250nm) "Katmai"

Intel WS440BX "Warm Springs"

3dfx VooDoo 3 3000 AGP (AGP 2X, 166MHz, 16MB, 250nm)

512MB Kingston ValueRAM (256x1, 128x2; PC100)

Seagate Barracuda ATA IV (40GB, ATA-100, 7,200RPM)

 

I will replace the hard drive with a Maxtor DiamondMax Plus 8 40GB (and maybe have 2 instead of just 1) since the Barracuda is just about dead.

Trust me. I will NEVER get rid of my electronic baby. If my mobo will let be, I'll retire the VooDoo and try my luck with an FX 6200.

I may be 14 (November 4th and I'll be 15! ) but here a couple months ago I checked and I had about 30 PC100 sticks (mostly 64MB). Needless to say I got rid of them. And no, not in the trash.

Lulz I used to run that same CPU back in the day. Man if you had 512 MB of RAM back when those components were relevant that would've been huge. Also I think you should get a case from the time if possible i.e. something beige.

Beige would kinda mess with the rest of my stuff, since everything else is black. But, I can't really use a case with from USB or audio, so do you know of one like this?

make sure you take lots of pics and try cable management (even though it might be harder in an old case)

I have that case (with the silver and the windowed side) it works lol but the Cooler Master Elite 430 is much nicer: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119227

 

i have used both cases and the 430 is far nicer and just add a PSU with it for like 20 bucks and will be the same price really

Fantastic to see that I'm not the only one that still owns hardware like this, it all seems to be a generation or two newer than mine though (Pentium 2 233mhz and Creative 3D Blaster Banshee for PCI). Can't wait to see how this turns out, I really hope you choose a retro case for it.

I ran into a bit of a problem. My hard drive dropped out, so I'm guessing something moved when everything was sitting on top of my old Dell (for testing it). Darn.
