File > Place Embeded ( select the image which you want on the current image )

than re-scale according to your requirement.

If you drag-n-drop from memory it opens a new edit window for the new image. Save that as a "mark-up" then shrink both windows so you can drag-n-drop from one frame to the other. PS needs to have both work areas in the same format, hope I have recalled that correctly as I have not used PS since I bought Sony Vegas.

Hope this helps

Someone once gave me a tip to open the image in a new canvas, than in your original canvas you can press some button to import a layer from another canvas and it would import just fine without some 'smart object' thing that you would otherwise have.

A new canvas, that's the term not edit window (same thing though) it still needs to be a *.psd to be able to import onto the work area. That's one of the reasons to have a scratch disc when you edit images or for that matter videos.

I'm not a Photoshop user, so I don't know all the tricks and terminology :D I just remembered someone giving me this tip when I asked him how to import a picture to a Photoshop canvas or whatever.
