Awful Frames on a 970

I'm not sure where to see that, i do have an overlay that tells me 99% load and 405 Mhz. Using NZXT CAM. my CPU is at 30%. thats bad but i dont know what it means

that 405mhz means something with the driver messed up, it should be at LEAST 1100mhz or above. Your core clock is not running at full speed for some reason.

Specs: Nvidia GTX 970 4gb Reference i5 4690 cpu Asus z-97a mobo 16gb ram

I've been having a problem where i have awful frame rates the more games i play. For instance, i typically look at 80-90 fps in Wow while playing. If i exit game and boot it up again, ill be down to 30. Now, if i switch from this game to say, overwatch, I'll have 9 fps max. I have uninstalled drivers and reinstalled and had that fix, but the problem keeps constantly coming back and it is definitely my GPU since every time i uninstall the drivers its fixed. Can someone please help me with a permanent solution? Its frustrated me beyond reason this past week.

Power supply? How are the temperatures and clocks for both the CPU and GPU while playing?

I own a Zotac 970 and have it overclocked to +150/+250Mhz core/mem, custom air cooling so I'm below 67° on 100% load on the hotest summer days.

No problems for the last 1,5 years until recently I started playing AC Black Flag, I got more or less the same symptoms OP described. Sudden frame drops up to 5fps and even up to a hard reset (not even a BSOD, PC just rebooted and reset my OC settings).

So I downclocked my 2700K from 4.3 to 4.2 Ghz (also no temp problem here < 55° on 100%) and believed the problem was solved.

Still problems kept arising especially when Alt+Tabbing in and out of the game. One day the hard drive went crazy, I figured maybe a memory leak in Assassins Creed.

My PSU is a Corsair Professional AX760 760W 80 PLUS Platinum .

TL;DR: After reading OP's post I now suspect the Nvidia beta drivers / Latest release drivers may be the cause..

Sorry! Corsair 750 Watt, and my GPU never goes about 80C under load, and my cpu is Liquid cooled. Both Are factory clocked.

Are you just uninstalling with control Panel,  Or are you using DDU in safe mode?

Which Corsair 750W power supply? They make too many models.

Just go to the Nvidia website, drivers > GeForce, select your GPU, then a list will come up, just choose from the list which one you want (not the latest).

I went back 3 driver dates and got it working. The latest driver was causing the issue

Glad you found it. Probably have to do that, too or report to Nvidia's bug tracker.

Not so glad everyone else ignored me for 10 more posts. I was right. In yo face!
