Thank you. I got a bit concerned when I saw temps above 100+. What is temp3?

Many people experience the same thing as you, with that "sensor" showing up as picking up a really high temperature, when there's nothing actually there.

SageOfSpice here is what HW Monitor shows. Apparently, the max operating temp of my cpu is around 73C. AMD Overdrive says a thermal margin of around 28-30C, meaning that it is 28-30C away from overheating, but HW monitor says the temps are very high

Re-upload the image to the post, and add it manually to the said post.

I can't upload the image, but in HW monitor the min. temp was 64, max. temp was 100 and value was around 90C. I'm wondering why my system hasn't shut down due to overheating though.

Why can't you upload the image?

When I go to upload the image won't load. I'll put the image on imgur: http://imgur.com/a/2dZf4

I know. You must upload the image, and add it manually down where the images appear(there should be a plus sign. Clicking on that will manually add the image to wherever the cursor was last in the post.

Does the value change at all for that sensor reading?

It changes by 1-2C.

Is this at idle?

No, this is under a Prime95 stress test. I'm just confused by the different temp readings. I thought at 90C my system would just shut down

89-92 package temps is high indeed. The upside is nothing will ever heat it as much as prime95, but probably you want to avoid it even there.

The 100+ temperature could have a meaning or not depending on your motherboard. Unfortunately, every monitor program reads its own weird thing when it comes to motherboard sensors, although there typically is one for the CPU socket.

In any case, it seems you started HWMonitor after prime95 was running, so min and max are very close. It would help to know what those sensors look at idle. Unless I'm wrong, and the CPU is idling at 89, but seems unlikely.

Stop right now. Don't stress it any longer!

TMPIN1 is your socket temp. According to HWmonitor, this is your motherboard. The lack of VRM heatsinks convinced me you are basically frying your VRMs, with core temps reaching 90 and socket temps above 100. I might be wrong, but I believe that is not a random ghost sensor, but the socket temp indeed. I don't know why the overheating protection didn't kick in, maybe something you disable to overclock? Perhaps it was presented under a different name?

In any case, beware: it is very likely that stressing your CPU with your current configuration will kill your motherboard.
