I cant decide whether to get a better router or a second internet connection to fix our current problem.

We have a lot of devices and are adding more in the future and while these devices are streaming 1080p video, I'm over here trying to play online multiplayer while disconnecting and ping spiking.

Our current speed is 100 download and our router is a Netgear R6300 AC 1750.

If you need more information just tell me and i will share it with you.

Thank you in advance,

XOXO Gossip Girl (jk SneezyShadow)

the line should hold, depending on how many devices.

check that yer modem can handle such traffic, if it's damaged or old.

that router should be fine enough for a family

100 megabit down should be sufficient to not effect your games, and your routers wifi seems to be fine for this speed too. Are you gaming using wifi too? or are you using a wired connection and everything else is using wifi?

I could play games fine without ping spikes while people were streaming and downloading and that was only with 25/5.

Gaming - Ryzen 9800X3D | 64GB 6400mhz cl30 9070 XT

Homelab - many servers...constantly changing.

3970X/256GB - 5950X/128GB ECC - 5600G/96GB - 3400GE/16GB - 3400GE/16GB

Yes, I'm using wifi. The router is unfortunately in another room so i cant connect wired.

How do i check if it can handle the traffic? Just look up the specs? I thought that the router would be fine also, but something's happening that's making everything go to shit.

It probably is the fact that I'm on wifi. Woe is me T-T
