If you're not buying a "k" series cpu, and you don't need the 50 sata 3 ports that z87 comes with, is there any other point to spend 50$ on a z87?

No, if you're not planning on overclocking, I think an h87 board should be fine as long as its not a terrible build quality.

System specs:  CPU: AMD Phenom II x3 705e unlocked to x4 overclocked to 2.8GHz   |   MB: ASUS M5A78L-M LX PLUS   |   Cooler: Hyper 212+   |   GPU: MSI GTX 560ti OC to 910Mhz   |   RAM: 8GB PNY DDR3 1333   |   HDDS: WD Caviar Blue 320GB, Hitachi 500GB HDD   |   PSU: Cooler Master Extreme Power Plus 500W   |   Peripherals: Microsoft wireless mouse, old mac keyboard, ASUS VS238H, Gateway FPD2275W, some speakers, Logitech Driving Force Pro

If you are not planning to buy a "K" series cpu, I would get a H87 motherboard to save money. I would choose any H87 board that you like as it doesn't really matter imo.

If you're not getting a "K" series chip (unlocked for overclocking) then there is no need for a Z87 Motherboard (overclockable). Just purchase any H87 Motherboard that has the features you want. If you don't need many features then get the cheapest you can find.

Only point in getting a Z87 board even if you don't want to OC is premium stuff you won't find on lesser socket boards (Sabertooth, G1 Sniper, exc.), but many manufacturers started making boards based on their higher end siblings (MSI B85 Gaming, Gigabyte Ultra Durable 5) so this soon won't be an issue.
