I mean, I can read the specs through CPU-Z and GPU-Z but I don't want the hassle of opening those every time I have to reassure myself my computer is this old/bad. Could it be because my Windows is not genuine? My computer has gotten about 3 or 4 viruses over the years and my OEM key expired when I got my GT 620 (huge mistake).

If your computer had gotten 3-4 viruses over the years I would just do a clean install of windows because you don't know what things could be screwed up. Also OEM keys don't expire, it would only give you a message that windows isn't genuine if you changed your motherboard.

When it got the 3-4 viruses each time we had to reinstall Windows, so now my OEM key is no longer valid.

OEM keys are only tied to hardware if they are later than win7 and branded (HP,Dell etc). With Vista key there are limited amount of reinstalss (10) but you can get more by calling to MS and explaining situation. Just activate your windows. Don't be stupid.
