Macbook pro 2016 OLED bar.

IDK if I am the only one but the new macbook (if it features what is rumored) I think will actually be pretty awesome. I'm parting out my pc at the moment to buy one (fight me). Never used a Mac regularly but I am genuinely excited about this one. Have a read.

I'd be excited for this if I didn't expect my 2013 rMBP to last me at least another 4-5 years.

Yeah my chromebook won't cut it anymore with school and stuff so looking in this direction. It was either this or the upcoming blade from razer but who knows, I might prefer macOS

I'm just curious why the source for the macbook news is android authority... reminds me of that time we had to learn about... (ah what was it again) from christian today, or whatever it was called xD

Solve your own audio issues  |  First Steps with RPi 3  |  Humidity & Condensation  |  Sleep & Hibernation  |  Overclocking RAM  |  Making Backups  |  Displays  |  4K / 8K / 16K / etc.  |  Do I need 80+ Platinum?

If you can read this you're using the wrong theme.  You can change it at the bottom.

i'm wondering why apple doesn't use nvidia's mobile GPUs..

They used to. They switched from the GT750 to the 370m. Presumably because they worked out a better contract with AMD.

The current model of the 15" Pro, which is basically the same as the one released in October 2013, originally came with a GT750.

It's possible they signed a new conrract with Nvidia. But I don't think anyone will really know until they release the new Macs.

The late 2013 15" rMBP released with a GT750m, now the 15" rMBP (which is essentially the same device) has a 370m. So it could probably go either way, although I would expect AMD to be used, not Nvidia.  (There was also a rumor that AMD was creating a custom version of Polaris for Apple).

it'll be interesting to use the 1060 or 1070 mobile GPU. maybe by then people will think of it as a capable gaming laptop, though i feel that battery life will take a huge nose dive

I'm not sure what the onboard GPU will be but the rumored 5k panel with discreet graphics will have a Polaris series GPU

Been patiently waiting for the new MacBooks to drop. My MacBook Air from 2013 is still fantastic but with so many charge cycles the battery doesn't hold its infamous 13 hrs of use anymore.

Hopefully Apple updates the Air with new processors and a Retina screen (unlikely due to the MacBook) so its likely that a Pro will be the replacement but man am I going to miss the Air's form factor and practicality.

I considered the air but I really couldn't live with that screen I think. Like it's alright but nowhere near the pro

It's not terrible (okay it's 2016, I'll admit its pretty bad) but its usable. I used a friend's Retina 15" before and man what a difference it is. The viewing angles and the resolution is fantastic but what really impresses me is the depth of color. My Air looks like someone painted grey over the screen compared to a Retina.

Dont even talk to me about battery cycles.....I have almost 1800 cycles on my 2013 rMBP. It's rated for 1000. I think I get about 2 hours of watching videos online whereas I used to get like 6-7 (iirc).
