Samsung Galaxy S7 vs. Note 7

Hey all,

I'm looking to get one of the above mentioned phones. Opinions?

I like the 'ruggedness' of the S7 active and the fact that I'm unlikely to break it (larger battery is also a plus), but the S-pen seems nice and the phone is much more aesthetically appealing.

i personally have the note 5.  i really dont ever use the s pen the only reason why i got it was because of the large screen.  i say if you dont care about screen size, go for the active

personally I'd go for the S7 edge if you want a large screen, and use an otterbox defender or something along those lines, giving you the ruggedness of the S7 active, the curved large display of the note 7 and the large battery of both.

Plus it will avoid the exploding note 7 issue and not fully waterproof s7 active issue

The edge feature seems like it makes the phone more prone to breaking, any experience with that at all? I'm leaning more to the active as its more durable and the longer battery life is a plus. What's the deal with the not fully waterproof S7 active? I don't intend to go diving in a pool with it or anything, but it would be comforting to know that a drop into water would be okay, unless its not?

Oh, and the screen sizes are roughly the same as far as I care, and the internals/camera are identical, so all that is a non-issue.

Exploding issue aside,

I have a Note 7 here and have been using it for a couple of days, I have to say, I'm very happy with it. (I've got the European version mind you.) Battery is fine, I get around 6 hours of screen on time on a charge, setup and migration was seamless and while I have held an S7 edge, and it was quite awkward, the note 7 is much more comfortable to hold, it has a much better feel to it. It's the first phone I don't mind the case on, and I used to never like having cases on my phone. That's how comfortable it is, impressive for a 5.7 inch phone!

The S-pen is good, but I personally don't really use it that much., if you are not looking for something with a pen stylus for something specific you are unlikely to use it, although, its quite good, even in comparison to the Surface pen.

The Iris Scanner and finger print sensor are amazing as well, it will unlock very fast 95% of the time, and it will not take false inputs, a friend tried to get into scanning her eyes and it was ok.  Only issue is it only takes 4 fingerprint reads, I could use another 2.

Camera is good, best one I've used on a phone yet, although a dedicated camera button would be great, and the screen is a masterpiece, it goes from astonishingly bright to quite dim and resolution is excellent. Gear VR is also quite cool.
