Overheating ?!

Hello !

I have an fx-8350 with an ARCTIC Freezer XTREME Rev. 2 (160 W !). My system is overheating very fast while rendering and gaming and shuts down because of the temperature protection. ( -> not playable) A system fan is mounted right behind it and two others are mounted in the front of the case (should be enough airflow). All fans are maxed out at 1000 rpm. I underclocked my cpu to 3.2 GHz and it's still overheating. I've no idea what's wrong, please help.

Idle: 55 °C / 131 °F

Some programs doing nothing (5% cpu usage): 76 °C / 169 °F

Sounds like a sensor malfunction or the cpu/mobo is dying.

try remounting the CPU cooler

If its that warm, then you likely have it mounted improperly. I would take it off, clean all the old thermal paste off and reapply it and re-seat it.
