I'm giving my brother a $400 budget to build his first computer. I know that isn't a ton, but it should be fairly decent for low to moderate expectations. I've been eyeing a GTX 950 mini on Newegg that'll be about $110 after MIR. Now, I know that this isn't the price to performance sweet spot. That's not what I'm going for. But does anyone have any better suggestions for a GPU at about that price point?

Look for any used GPUs, Like a HD 7870 or a GTX 660.

For low budgets going for new parts doesn't make sense.

No, but either card should be able to play any game 900p or lower at decent settings and 50+fps

Yeah, If you just have to go for a new GPU, the RX 460 is pretty much the best option.

Isnt it worth it to go for AMD A10-7890k? The Integrated GPU is quite powerful :)

but compared to the rx460 it has no chance, that 460 build is quite the best u can get for the money :)

That looks like a solid build. I had been planning on getting him a FX-4350, but that might be overkill. I really like your build. The PSU might be a little OPed, but I'm definitely going to look into some of those parts. Thank you so much!

I'd say the FX-4350 and this Athlon X4 are basically the same CPU. The 845 is more power efficient though.

A10 7890K iGPU is the same as the iGPU in the 7850K/7860K

i.e. not very good. Fine for mobas and low resolutions, but comparable to an R7 250 or GT 730 64-bit

Well, the FX definitely has a higher base clock, but the CPU won't be a bottleneck in this system. So I'll probably go with the mores cost effective one. Thank you again.

Funny story, for my personal build, I paired a 6700K with a gtx 970. Should have balanced it better: way OP CPU with decent GPU isn't the optimal pairing. However, for my brother's computer, neither CPU nor GPU will be stupidly powerful anyway.
