RX480 Crossfire

Go to solution Solved by PhantomWalke,

Hey, i reinstalled the drivers and now it seems to work. Guess i wont need a new PSU. Thanks for the help!

Hy, i have an i5-6600k 4,5ghz, a 700Watt-PSU  and 2 RX480s. My problem: pretty frequently my screen goes black, and then i can`t do nothing but shut my pc off by pressing the startbutton for a few seconds. But not only when i`m gaming or so but also when i do non demanding tasks like watching youtube or MS-Words....

The only thing i can think of is my (cheap)PSU. 700Watt not enough???

the thing is the consistency the psu is giving you power :) But yo usay your sceen goes black, so that probably means that your driver stopped, so be sure you have the latest drivers.

Hi, sorry to hear that.

Try uninstalling ALL video card drivers. There is some utility to completely remove them on the internet.

Make sure all your power cables are plugged in all the way.

Give us the name and model of your PSU.

If you do decide to get a better PSU, I'd recommend the Corsair RM750x or RMi series, depending on the price and your budget. 650W would be enough I think, if you're rocking a consumer platform (LGA1150 and such)

It`s a Sharkoon WPM700W Bronze Modular ATX 2.3 Powersupply. This is my first pc i`ve ever build and put together myself and i thought i could save some money on the psu for other components. I will try reinstalling all videocard drivers. THANKS

That's not a bad psu if I passes 80+ bronze. Display driver unistaller is the best driver removal tool.

Have you checked the event viewer? If the driver is crashing it will show in there.

I doubt it's the PSU if it's going down while watching you tube videos, the 480s won't be drawing much if they're not doing much. I'd try reinstalling drivers first, then if it still happens try swapping the cards around, and try both cards individually.

Do a clean driver install with 'Display Driver Uninstaller" first.

Event viewer is as simple as typing it in the start menu search bar. (Atleast on Windows 8/10, dunno if it works like that on 7)

I would also make sure that the cards are running at the correct clock speeds with MSI Afterburner.

Well not really because more efficient components tend to be better quality.

What he said is true. Just because it's 80 plus rated doesn't mean it can't be bad. I'm not sure if you're serious or not.
