Pascal GPU and big battery don't go together really.  When doing graphically intensive stuff, your battery life is gonna suck.

Not to mention, your budget is WAAAAAAAAAAAAY too low for anything equipped with a Pascal GPU.

As AnnoyedShelf said, you WILL have to sacrifice something, or even two things to get something even close to what you want, or you can get a second hand one for cheaper, but you still have to give up the battery life.

And the other thing I don't get is why you absolutely have to have pascal.  Yeah, it runs at a higher clockspeed, but clock for clock is the same as Maxwell.  And Maxwell also happens to be more efficient, and I'm going to bet that the mobile Maxwell cards won't be going away for a while since they're now cheap to produce and can be put in some of the thinnest gaming laptops.

I've told this story a million times, but here we go again.

Bought a Y40-70, fully specced for college 2 years ago.  All was great, but around Christmas time (4 months after purchase) the fans started making funny noises.  A couple months later, they died.  Sent it in for repair, they fixed the fans but broke my windows install.  Luckily I had a backup though.

Fast forward to last year, not a week after the warranty expired, the battery controller went haywire.  The laptop wouldn't charge and insisted the battery wouldn't charge, even though the battery seemingly worked fine.  I did need a more powerful laptop for the things I was doing but that's beside the point.  That's when I went and ordered my Clevo.

On another note, 2 friends of mine that had Y50's from the same year had the EXACT SAME BATTERY PROBLEM, however they were lucky enough to have it happen within warranty.  The one friend sent his out and it took them 6 months to get him a replacement.

Yeah.  By all means, ThinkPads are fantastic, but ever since this incident and the amount of people at school that whine about the quality of IdeaPads, I've decided to avoid that side of Lenovo entirely.

well yeah ideapads are not the best laptops ever, but they are still better than HP, Acer, Asus, Samsung and Toshiba. They are very average. I am sorry that this problem happened to you, this is just not okay.

But yeah if I was going to get a new normal laptop and not business, then Clevo would be on the top of my list, but that is not gonna happen for a while.

Asus isn't bad by any means, like their products are good, but I gotta say their support is shit.  Buddy of mine got screwed by their support on numerous occasions and has vowed to never purchase anything Asus ever again.

nah their products have been going down a LOT in quality over time, alot of them have thermal problems and that is just a no go in my book.
