I'd recommend a fractal design node 202 for a case, there are two variants, one with a 450w power supply, and the other without a power supply, which allows for you to pick an SFX power supply to put in it.

It's a very nice case and may suit your needs.

Also, have you considered just getting a laptop? you're going to need to bring a keyboard, monitor, and mouse with you, or at least have a second one at the location you're wanting to use the pc at, whereas with a laptop you have all those things already inside of it.

What's your overall budget?

Specs: CPU - Intel i7 8700K @ 5GHz | GPU - Gigabyte GTX 970 G1 Gaming | Motherboard - ASUS Strix Z370-G WIFI AC | RAM - XPG Gammix DDR4-3000MHz 32GB (2x16GB) | Main Drive - Samsung 850 Evo 500GB M.2 | Other Drives - 7TB/3 Drives | CPU Cooler - Corsair H100i Pro | Case - Fractal Design Define C Mini TG | Power Supply - EVGA G3 850W

^this. and putting such a build in your backpack might be a it risky in case you shock it to something like that. A laptop is indeed maybe a better solution

My Main Build: NZXT S340 - NZXT Kraken X31 - Crucial MX100 256GB - i5 4460 - Gigabyte Z97P D3 - Kingston HyperX Red 8GB - MSI Nvidia GTX 780 3GB - Corsair LL & HD RGB Fans, Corsair Lighting Node Pro.

Hi there :)

A couple of things you may consider:

- A single 8GB memory stick may be a better choice here both for expansion opportunities and lower budget.

- I would also back the guys up with the laptop option as it is more suitable for on-the-go purposes.

You may consider putting a VM on your home system and using it remotely from a simple laptop where all the heavy lifting will be done by your home system while you control it remotely.

I do think a laptop is a better solution. However if for some reasons you still prefer a small desktop. Lian Li PC TU-100 could be considered. It even come will a handle and can fit a small graphics card, but requires a SFX power supply.

Laptops sucks.

can not do upgrades.
if it falls ruins everything.
those that cost 600 to 800 are slow.
laptops compared to desktops are super slow.

On my work i have dedicated screen. and school also.

if a want a screen i use this: ASUS MB MB169B+ 15.6" Screen LED-Lit Monitor. https://www.amazon.com/ASUS-MB169B-Screen-LED-Lit-Monitor/dp/B013XFJKGI

You'd be surprised with what you can get out of a laptop for under $500 or so, but if you really want to go with the desktop instead, that's up to you.

Most laptops I've encountered allow for storage, ram, and wifi card upgrades, and sometimes CPU upgrades as well, or if you get up into higher end laptops (over $1,000) you can find some where you can upgrade the GPU as well.
