I have an iPhone an iPad, and used to have a Mac. Now that I have my Windows machine, I would like to have my photos on it. I currently have a 120gb ssd and a 500gb hdd. When I downloAd photos with iCloud for Windows, it goes straight to my ssd and fills it up leaving my hdd empty. All I want are my photos and videos on my hdd. Please help.

Use iTunes to back it up onto another drive? Iirc you can change the default backup location. Also you can backup the photos only by plugging it in and copying the DCIM

iCloud for Windows allows you to download your photos from the cloud onto your hard drive. In my case it downloads onto my sad when I want it to download onto my hdd.

No worries.  It's a bit of an art because you grow more accustomed to which keywords to use for Google.
