Hello everyone I wanted to show you this build. I know it doesn't have a case, but that isn't anything I'm worried about right now. I want to make sure everything is compatible and good for an office computer (not a server). There's no need for a graphics card or anything, but I wanted to make sure I made good choices.

What are you doing in your office? A 6700k would be super overkill for microsoft word

We do a ton of multitasking and have quite a bit of demanding workloads. It may be overkill, but my boss wants pretty powerful.

Well I guess aside from that.. I would get a different hard drive. Had nothing but trouble with Seagate drives in the past.

What kind of demanding workloads?

Well we have i5's from a few years ago, and things are running quite slow. But we are usually working in about 2 databases, have outlook up, working with two monitors and have a few internet tabs open minimum.

2 niggles:

1. That PSU...PLS SWITCH to something better, get anything from Seasonic/XFX (but the XT line of PSUs), a EVGA B2/G2/GS/GQ/P2/T2, Corsair CXM (grey/white label) ect. ect. as yes, there's only a CPU in there but still, getting a better PSU is always good ;)

2. Maybe get a non-k 6700? Since he's not gaming or anything, a standard 6700 should be fine :D

Looking at my signature are we now? Well too bad there's nothing here...

I think I will get the non k, and that ssd will work with the board right?

Sorry man. I guess you didn't read the thing. This isn't far better. For starters, I don't need a graphics card at all. The RX 460 is purely for gaming or certain types of rendering. Second, the 6700 is superior in single core and offers multi threading. Third, are you joking with the sandisk? No offense, but the intel I just put up is 3 times faster. It just came out, and it's an m.2 not sata, which explains it's speed difference. I also need 2tb storage. You're building a gaming rig. I have far different needs.

Yea, I read it, dumbass.

Faster transmit rate does not equate to future reliability. So what that an m.2 device is faster? It's not going to help access databases faster.

It's the intranet/internet connectivity between the computer and the servers where the databases are being held is the real key to how fast you can access the data.

Unless your boss is willing to pay for a constant replacement of computer components, then, by all means, get the build you wanted.

Why are you asking us if you already decided yours is the best?

Well I just know it doesn't need much power. I've always had good luck with corsaire CPUs. I don't need modular or anything. Why is it bad?

For the simple fact that it's built with shitty components so yes in your build, it will be absolutely fine but it's just that you can get better PSUs for the money :P

I asked to get well informed answers. I've already changed my build more than once, based on intelligent answers. Your answer showed a complete lack of knowledge when it comes to PC builds. You clearly have only built for gaming.

And concerning your absurd argument back, why have an SSD at all with that logic? Why would you have even suggested one? That's because you weren't thinking of it at all. I still have to pull up programs and access data from the computer itself, so a faster SSD is better.

Then you suggested 1TB instead of 2 and a graphics card. Give me a break. You don't have a clue. Then you have the audacity to call me a dumbass? What a joke.

i advise you not to listen to him at all(if you haven't already :P). he absolutely doesn't know what he's doing with these builds he keeps shitting out, often with overpriced components and with almost no thought at all, while often pulling bullshit nonexistant 'data' and he frequently insults and throws vulgarities around at others in the forums. you're not the first to have been attacked by him.
