I will be upgrading my cpu from amd Fx-8320 and motherboard to Intel ones (probs i5-4xxx) How will this work? Presumably I cannot just put in the new components and continue like nothing happened? I am ok with having to delete everything (nice to get a clean once in a while) from my computer but if it's easy to keep then then I will probs. Do I have to get a new Windows version also?

Unless you absoultely have to upgrade right now, wait for am4 and zen.  Jan/Feb or so.  Even if you have no intention of buying it, it will almost definitely lower the cost of that used 4th gen i5 / get you an i7 now at the same price.  Although, your 8320 setup will also be worth far less.  Guess decisions....

The main reason I'm going for intel is because I don't get an enough stable performace in CS:GO: the game I mostly play.

Which windows? OEM or Retail?

Where can I see this?

Why do you need to upgrade, and why wouldn't it be to skylake or broadwell (or waiting for zen)?

The main reason I'm going for intel is because I don't get an enough stable performace in CS:GO: the game I mostly play.  As for buying a new chip I don't want the spend the extra 100-200€ to get the newest components. I am going for a used one.

Please re-read what I said.  I said if you can wait, do so because what you are looking to buy should be cheaper.  I did not say buy amd / zen.

It is just advice though and speculative advice at that.  It also has risk because maybe intel for some reason doesn't go down but the am3 stuff falls out of the sky flat on it's face and now you can't sell yours for anything.  Either way, just wanted to be sure you understood I was not pushing Zen.

I agree with LabRat think it might be a diffrent factor as to why your game is lagging maybe your gpu or your internet connection is slow but thats off topic on topic to upgrade into  a i5 your going to need a new mother board(amd and intel use diffrent ones also there is diffrent ones among each of them)

So what you need to find out is which Cpu(processor) you wish to buy then onto the mother board also if your planning to upgrade your Gpu(graphic card) make sure you have room for it in your case shouldn't be a problem but it can happend sometimes also check if you need a new Psu(power supply) in case your old one can't power all those components

what are you running for a graphics card?

what kind of internet connection do you have? speed?

I play games on an 8300 more demanding than that game with no problems.

I have a gtx 770 and I have no probloms running other games but csgo is just a game that uses your cpu:s single core performance and cant use multiple cores that well. I have 100mb internet connection with ethernet cord so thar is not a problem.

It is not a different factor because I have gtx 770 and 100mb internet with ethernet cord. I also didnt say it was lagging: I get about 200 fps most times but it drops to 130 at times and sometimes to 100. Other components in my pc dont need an upgrade. I have a gtx 770, 16gb of ram, 620w psu and 120gb ssd

I have upgraded from windows 7 to windows 10 and it says I have retail version so I should be fine right?

but how many frames do you need? I figured if you were playing on a 60Hz monitor you'd benefit from from the higher refresh monitor. (CSGO)

list specs/

Gtx 770

16gb ram

fx-8320

gigabyte 990xa ud3

120gb ssd

windows 10

Optimally i would like 350+ fps. Atm I'm getting 150-200 with ocasionally 100 fps

this is nuts you know.

you'll pick up more frames with a faster card. you'll pick up more frames with an i5 ( but I wouldn't buy and i5. I would seek out a 4core8thread-6core/12thread cpu ). fast as I could afford.
your reasoning is for competition or ego?

My reason is solely to get more fps
