Thumping noise from HDD

Title says it all, when I installed my new drive, it would make a noticeable thumping noise, WD blue 2TB if that matters, it passed Western digital's drive tests, but the thumping noise is very jarring, strangely enough the thumping goes away when I boot it without the sata data cable connected(as suggested by WD's site). Any ideas?

If your hard drive is that loud, get it RMAd

Are you sure that you put in the screws all the way and its not one of those rattling? Also are you sure that its actually your hard drive and not something near it?

can you do a sound recording capturing the sound in question?

its a very distinct thump that happens ever couple seconds happens with and without screws, it is indeed coming from the HDD
