I do 3d image rendering and was recently looking for a new pc. Vray has two versions- CPU based and GPU based- I usually opt for the CPU based version as it is older and has got mre features.

Should I go for a Workstation graphics card when I am still going to use the CPU based engine or rely on the onboard graphics/integrated graphics.

If you don't game or anything and only do CPU rendering you don't need a Workstation GPU, if you want a GPU, just get a GTX series unless your application calls for a quadro
