lga2011 Looking for a budget LGA 2011 MOBO! HELP!

Hello, you beautiful people you! So I am building an editing/streaming/gaming rig for myself and have chosen the LGA2011 Xeon E5-2670 because it's $80 on eBay. I would love to get a reasonable mobo for under $300 if possible. I see a lot of mobo's that are LGA 2011 compatible (like the Intel DX79TO) going for that price, but I also see that the X99 platform is much... MUCH cheaper, although on DDR4. Is there a good CPU/Mobo combo that would get me the 8core/16thread performance for a better price? My total budget for both would be around $400.

Used is absolutely fine. I would never buy an Intel CPU new.

well i just though about that: you won't get that because the only non xeon processor on 2011-v3 with 8 cores are the 5960X and the 6900k, and you won't get them for that price even used. on the xeon side, you may get some low clocked xeons.

So X99 is NOT compatible with classic LGA 2011 Sockets? (just to be clear, since that's what I asked)

Okay, so only the C602, X79, and LGA 2011 mobo's work. Do you have any suggestions?

I would suggest just getting an i7 if you have $400 to spend (assuming USD). You can get an i7/motherboard/16Gb of ram for $400.

It will have the same mutlithreaded performance, and a lot better singlethreaded performance. 

 

 I would only recommend the e5 2670 if you are going for a dual cpu system, or if you bought them a while back when they were $50, and you could find cheap x79 boards.
