More Monitors= Slower PC?

Hello. I am really new to Conputers and PC's. I am building my first real setup, and I am wondering if more of the same monitors will make your PC slower (less FPS?). Example. Playing BF4 on Ultra settings with a single 980 ti and a single 27' 1440p monitor will give you around 50 FPS. Will 2 1440p montors running BF4 (with the same 980ti) run at 40 FPS?

If you're playing on only one of the monitors, adding extra monitors will hardly affect your performance.

Your performance will only be affected if you game on more then one of the monitors or game on a higher resolution monitor

Gaming on several monitors will totallu decrease your FPS because the resolution u pkay at is much bigger, more pixels to generate = more work for CPU and GPU.

 

When it comes to work or browsing on multiplae minitors same thing applies, there is more processes running and so your PC has to work harder.

Gaming on several monitors will reduce the fps, but connecting 2 monitors and gaming on only one monitor will have virtually no impact on the frame rates

If you plan on gaming on both monitors, you could see your performance cut in half for sure. But if the second monitor is used for browsing/monitoring/whatever generic suff during gaming, it won't do anyything to your GPU.

It has some impact since your CPU has to focus on more than just a game. I mean browsing wont impact u much but watching a youtube or Twitch will have some degree of impact. Especially if u watch at 1440p or 4K (that destroys performance) I notice some FPS loss on my rig at 1080p.

If you are running a game on multiple monitors, yes, that will affect performance. The PC sees the monitors as one continuous output, so two 1440p monitors are 5120x1440. That's twice as many pixels for the GPU to render, which would probably come close to halving performance. Though I don't think you can game on two monitors—even if the software allows it, you'd have a pair of bezels cutting the image in half down the center. You could use three for gaming, which is 7680x1440.

 

Having a second monitor will not affect performance meaningfully if all you're doing is running a web browser or other desktop applications in it. Yes, there is probably a non-zero effect on system resources, but you won't be aware of it unless you go out of your way to measure it.
