Okay heres the deal - im curently in the town where my uncle leaves and he has a full closet of old laptops that most of them are on pieces. The production period for them is probly from 2000 to 2010 and I want the most basic thing witch i can use as a media player for my 1080p tv in home. I dont care for hdd/sdd cpu and ram since pretty much all of these can run windows 7 (or maybe xp) with atached external hdd and km/bs/vlc player at the same time (and this all for witch they are going to be used for).

Can somebody tell me from witch generation intel graphics i should search witch can give me resolution over hdmi cable (also most likely its going to be just bare laptop mb no monitor no nothing sooo yeah :D) or what model of video chip..

1 last question that i have is all of this worth it or shall i try to fix the rasbian player controls for my rpi3 and use it instead of those beat up laptop crap (1 note here im dealing with a lot of formats that i have no idea will they work at all on rasbian witch has just 1 player optimized for rpi as far as i know)

Any information is very helpfull also all links to other threads of forums (if theres any  - i couldnt find anything like that) is greatly appreciated
