You have to test it yourself. Every card is different. Overclock it to them brim and then lower down the clocks until you're comfortable with the noise and GPU speed. Don't forget that it will throttle and clock speed will not be consistent.

Stock RX 480 -> Don't bother with it. The temps are already too hot and it won't go further much to give you an appreciable boost.

custom RX 480 -> Goes to around 1350 MHz +/- 25, depending on whether you win or lose the silicon lottery.

Should of waited for the custom coolers , but to be fair i payed 170 for my one as it was literally the first batch out online . Also its the ones which you can flash to get them to 8gb , so i cant complain.

The overall OC potential of RX480 is very little, I can't get my NITRO+ card stable at more than +25% power limit and 1342MHz (factory OC). It crashes the driver.

You're saying that the pre-applied overclock is unstable? That shouldn't be happening.

I have explained it incorrectly* (wrongly).

It is rock stable at the factory OC, but when I try to increase the power limit from stock to +50% in hopes that more juice would get the card to higher boost, it crashes.

@modulelfs pointed out my shameful grammar error for which I shall how leave this place to contemplate about my life decisions.

Try to bump it up slowly in multiples of 10 rather than directly to 50%.
