I updated to the latest version of windows 10 the other day and ever since my PC has been slower and slower at posting. Today it as not posted at all. Why? I have a laptop with an i7 4730HQ a GTX 960m and 8GB of Kingston ram. When I press the power button backlighting on my keyboard comes on but that is it even if I connect to power. Last thing is that the fans spin up to full RPM and the air coming out of them is hot. I have tried swapping out the ram and I still have the same problem. Do any of you have this same problem?

that is why I posted in windows topic as well. I consider it to be more of a trouble shooting though

If you can't even post then it has nothing to do with Windows.

Apart from that I have no clue as I have never used a laptop, and never plan to.

It's not a race to the bottom.

overheating perhaps or a hardware problem, you said you changed the ram recently. Make sure everything is connected properly (ram, hdd, expansion cards, etc)

I haven't changed it I just tried to see If it would post with alternative ram. I have a feeling the CPU has died unfortunately

unless you were trying to overclock or something crazy I doubt it. CPUs will thermal throttle to prevent damage if they get too hot, sometimes they will shutdown even before post. Take the laptop to a repair shop or take it apart yourself, check the cpu, the thermal paste and the heatsink. If the air coming out of the fan is "too hot" for a cold boot then it could be some sort of hardware /cooling problem
