No, it should still post. Bad PSU would be my guess.

You'd be surprised, I had an Antec modular PSU back during my original Athlon 64 build work find one day, shut down for the night, get up, nothing but a high pitched whine the next morning. No fans, no nothing.

Yeah I get they can go kaboom randomly. but it doing so at the exact time he decided to move his parts is way too convenient
