I just overclocked my 6700k to 4.6ghz at 1.4v and an ambient temp of 23 degrees celsius with the h100i GTX and I stress tested it on aida 64 for about 30 minutes and the max temp it reached was 67 degreses celsius. Is this a safe OC for everday use and is it stable?

Yep, the 24/7 recommended voltage is 1.4v or lower. Those temps are gorgeous. Good OC.

Thats good to hear I definetly want to try other apps like cinebench and prime 95 before I continue.

I wouldn't bother with Cinebench, it's a benchmark rather than a stress test. Either do longer Aida passes (30min is nothing, really) or skip straight to P95.

Ok and how long should I let it run for? And did I win the "silicon lottery"

If you'd like to push your OC harder, monitor it for an hour or so before trying to increase the frequencies / decreasing voltages. If you are happy with your current level, though, give it at least an overnight 8h pass while you sleep.

As for winning it, I'll refrain from making any comments until you've verified your stability on a lengthier test.

Wow! 8 hours!? Are you sure that's healthy?

I don't understand. I recall a video Linus is saying how Prime95 is a dangerous stress test, and might break your system, but everyone here still uses it, I do too, and it works perfectly. Was Linus wrong?

Went to 29 days running straight before I had to shut it down. It won't hurt your hardware at all, don't worry about it.

Not to say that he is wrong (even though that's the case), but don't watch his videos to learn about stuff, watch it for the entertainment.

Prime95 isn't dangerous if you are OCing things properly, which you should. Think of it as car: drive it without ever having a lesson and you are sure to murder people; have a few classes, though, and you'll be fine. Likewise, spend a Sunday afternoon reading about how to OC and you'll be 100% safe to use P95.
