4790k expansion

I have a 4790k with a GTX 970 in a pcie x16 slot, and my cpu only has 16 supported slots, so can I expand to get a bluetooth/wifi card in my system? I also have an m.2 slot and I have heard things about bluetooth and wifi cards for those.

 

Edit: I have an ASrock extreme4 edition mobo

Bluetooth/wifi will run off the PCI Lanes from your chipset. The PCI Lanes from your CPU are dedicated to your graphics. Any other expansion cards will pull from your Chipset.

If you add a card, it'll drop your GPU to x8 (which after losing half of the bandwidth it needs) making it 0% less effective. You'll be perfectly fine.

 

If anything the bluetooth card's controller may have code to access the DMI rather than CPU lanes.
