Decompile APK

Is it possible to decompile an APK and be able to edit it? My friend sent me an APK of an app he was working on however I have noticed a few problems with it and he has gone on holiday and I don't have access to his code. Can I extract or decompile the APK to edit it in Android Studio or Eclipse?

Disclaimer: never used it before.

 

I don't think you can, I think you upload the file and it decompiles it for you and then emails you the files.

oh, ill figure it out then
