Hi,

Me and my family are going to be moving into a new house soon, and my mom and sister have a habit of watching netflix and severely making me lag when I am playing video games. I was just wondering is it at all possible that I make with a single router for example 2 networks. Also wondering with these 2 networks If i could assign a certain amount of bandwidth my hope is that I could be on 1 and them on the other. Is this something I have to do manually? Or do I ask my new ISP to do it for me? Do I need 2 routers? Sorry for all the questions, never done nothing like this before but it is something that I would like to learn how to do for future reference. If any of you know anything about this I would greatly appreciate some advice.聽

Thanks for any replies in advance.

Getting two routers would share the same bandwidth from the ISP, and set up two separate networks. If your family on one router watched netflix or something then it would just grab all the bandwidth and leave none for the other router, solving nothing. Get a more expensive router that supports QoS, this manages bandwidth to prevent one device from hogging all of it.

My brothers xbox may be assigned the lowest possible priority due to him hogging the bandwidth ;).聽If you so desired, you could get this router, then log into in via a browser, and assign every medium-low priority and give yourself the highest priority.

This may be an expensive option but a hardware firewall would be great for what you're referring to you could make the port your PC is plugged into reserve half the bandwidth in your house for when you're needing it and you can set your mom and sister to use less.

Whether they'd be okay with that is a different question all together!

There is no need for a hardware firewall, like @Altecice聽said you just need a router that cos or qos and set that up.聽
