Hello techies!

I need some help here. We have a small office and are currently using cloud storage for all our files. Each person has a username and password and has access ONLY to specific folders.

Now, its getting a bit expensive and I've been thinking, instead of cloud storage is it possible to use a (2 actually, explained at the end)  NAS? With the same functionality? Can I have access to my files via internet? Different users have access to specific folders? Encryption, in case the NAS is stolen?

This one is a bit complicated-

A second NAS at a different location, but both hold the same files and are synchronised.

How many of these are possible? If NOT possible, any other alternative?

Thanks in advance! :)

Yeah it's possible.

Even WD cloud can do that, and it's basicly just a HDD in a box.

Now it only depends on how much storage you need.

Yes this is all possible but you have the potential for a large upfront cost to get it set up first.

We're paying ₹17000 ~ $250 a month for the cloud services.

Will this be cheaper in a long term use?

Our storage is very less, around 200GB, all our cost goes in the services rather than amount of storage.

A home NAS would definitely be cheaper -- you could run something like OwnCloud. Athough securing it well enough to make it open to the internet isn't an easy task to do.

WD Cloud or as you said, OwnCloud, don't these keep out data secure when its being transmitted? I don't have good knowledge about these, so I'm just asking you, tell me if I'm wrong.

And what about multiple users? With access to different stuff? Do these services provide this too?
