Hey guys,

decided to reinstall tf2 yesterday and i have nothing but fps problems on new machine.

For the first 10 minutes the fps sits around 280fps and is fine but then after that it drops to 180 then down to 100.

Cpu temp is only 60 degrees C and Gpu temp is only 65-70...

I've been changing gfx settings left right and centre but to no avail.

Pc specs are in sig

Ryzen 9 7900X

Asrock X670E PG Lightning

32GB G.Skill 6000mhz DDR5

1TB Samsung 990 Pro

Rdna 2 iGPU

Check with MSI afterburner, look at the graphs and see if the power or clockspeeds drop off at the times when you get FPS problems.

Tried that :(

No significant movement in clockspeed or power when fps drops...

Could it be the cpu? surely 60degrees for a 6600K isn't a problem?

So all of the numbers are during gameplay? (And that CPU temp is fine) Check CPU and GPU usage.

Could you do a cpu and gpu benchmark to check "worst case scenario" temps?

(For the gpu preferably a benchmark that pulls higher fps numbers, like tf2 should.

I've ran the Heaven Unigine benchmark and gpu temp hits 71 degrees and Cpu hits 63degrees highest after running for quite a while.

Nothing out of the ordinary for Cpu or Gpu usage.

You see, Team Fortress 2 doesn't have something called proper optimization. As in I've gotten an i7-2600 to drop to 29FPS on Suijin.

Check out my guide on how to scan cover art here!

Local asshole and 6th generation console enthusiast.
