If you want it but I'd honestly suggest saving up for a 1070. 3.5GB of VRAM won't get you anywhere.

Good thing it's 4GB ? and has no problem using that last 0.5 GB (in real world usage.)

First build every: Intel Core i7 4790K, Asus Z97-A/USB 3.1 motherboard, Kingston HyperX FURY 1866 2x8 16GB Kit, Gigabyte Windforce GTX 970 G1 Gaming, Corsair Obsidian 450D Black ATX Mid Tower, Samsung 850 EVO 250GB & 3TB Toshiba HDD, EVGA SuperNOVA 750W G2, Corsair H100i GTX 240mm, Gigabyte Bluetooth 4.0/Wifi Card, Logitech G700S. Running on Windows 10

Surface Pro 3: i5 4300U with 8GB of ram and 256GB SSD. Running Windows 10 Pro

Yes he would. You see, there is no driver magic that can enable it. The last chunk of memory works on a 32-bit interface resulting in 7 times slower speed compared to the rest of the VRAM (which runs on a 224-bit interface). TL:DR - 970's specs are fake.

No it WOULDN'T. It IS enabled and has been proven so. You would only see performance hits when stress testing specifically that memory. Real world gaming I can use ALL 4GB in gaming with no issues at ALL.

Stop fanboying and read up something BEFORE you start talking. That part of the GPU has been disabled during manufcaturing, NOT VIA FIRMWARE OR SOFTWARE. IT IS CRIPPLED. Get that through your thick skull.

I'm NOT I could care less what company nor manufacturer my card is by. It is USEABLE stop spreading shit around because it doesn't affect performance. Get THAT through YOUR skull...

Useable at 1/7 of the advertised speed. I still don't understand you. Instead of admitting that you were fooled by the fake specifications, you go out of your way to ignore the truth. Sigh, fanboys be fanboys.

550W is not enough to safely SLI 970s. 650W minimum. Each 970 uses 150-200W depending on the OC. That's basically pushing the PSU to it's limits and then some. Not safe

And only if its a good 650W. My VS650 struggles with my GTX 970 G1 Gaming+4790K (then again, its at 4.7GHz and consumes just over 100W not in Prime95).

I wasn't. I research everything before I buy. The slower 0.5GB doesn't affect performance as observed here...

tl:dr " Most users should not face this [performance degradation] issue except on higher resolutions such as 4K or in the case of multi-monitor gaming. In which case we would actually recommend buying a graphics card with more memory anyway"

Fallout 4 running at 1080p 2x DSR. 4GB vRAM usage, smooth 60fps until I went onto tall buildings/high hills. Just ignore the idiot. They have no idea what they are talking about as they don't own a GTX 970, much less having actually used one.
