Hi, i haven't used my windows rig in a while because i've bought a macbook. Now i can't access the pc because it says i'm typing in the wrong password. I'm 100% certain i'm typing in the right password to unlock the pc. My question now is, would it be possible for someone to have changed the password remotely? (virus, spyware etc..)

Technically yes but not while it is off, more likely you simply aren't remembering the password correctly since human memory is crap, or you have numlock/caps lock on :P

1.) Did you leave your Windows PC on while you weren't using it? 2.) Is Win 10 linked to your Microsoft Account if you have one? If either one of these is true then yes, it's very possible. if neither is true then your hippocampus has changed your memory on your password, the brain does that a lot.

Oh yeah windows 10's stupid account garbage I forgot about that possibility

No, the pc was shut off and it's been at my parents house the whole time i wasn't using it. I don't have it linked to my microsoft account either. I could've sworn i remember the password because of how easy it is to remember. I'm talking password123 easy.

Also, when i hit reset password it tells me to plug in a USB flashdrive.

You need a USB drive that has the password reset code on it if you set one up.

Didn't do that either, i installed windows from a usb drive though.

edit: i installed windows 8 from a usb drive then updated to windows 10.

I found this on Google from HowToGeek: http://www.howtogeek.com/222262/how-to-reset-your-forgotten-password-in-windows-10/ Follow it percicly.

I give up, i have fastboot enabled so i can't access the bios. Will probably just throw the pc in the garbage at some point.
