I was watching a really old linus video on the GTX 465 and he said that with an open-heatsink design all the air coming from a graphics card is going into the case with a small bit going out the back panel. In my case, right next to where my GPU would be, I have two fans. I was wondering if those would be optimal for cooling, or would it be wiser to move the fans? If the air is getting pushed out the back of the heatsink wouldn't my fans be pushing the air back in?

This may be a really stupid question but just want to make sure I am not shorting myself on cooling.

You could answer your own question by moving around fans and checking temps before and after. Have you already gotten the max OC on your 670 that your temperature preference will allow? That would be a good place to start before you move around fans.

For the best cooling, you want negative pressure, which it seems like you have.

To minimize dust, you want positive.

All depends on what you prefer.

Why would negative pressure be better for cooling?

And positive pressure doesn't help if he doesn't have filtered intakes

Your fans are fine :)
"Why would negative pressure be better for cooling?

Negative pressure will leave less warm air in the case, constantly drawing cool air in from every little hole. Positive pressure can be better than negative, but that really depends on the config.

Yeah you're right, positive will need some filters for sure. I should of asked what case he had in the first place.

Plus, you're right again, the fan set up is fine.

should work good if you have vented slot covers near the gpu of other vents. Your goal is to have a good cold air going in the fans for the cpu and gpu so they run the coolest. so a side fan would help. but with these new cpus and gpus that make very little heat cooling is not much of a problem much anymore
