"Loud" SSDs

My SSD in my netbook is making a pretty loud whining noise, anybody else have a loud SSD? I thought since there were no moving parts it was impossible for SSDs to make noise but doing a search on Google it appears I am wrong. Out of the 75 or so SSDs I've purchased, only one of them is making noise.

 

It didn't make any of noise before but it just started a few weeks ago, took me a while to pinpoint it was the SSD making the noise. It's a SanDisk X210 256GB SSD I've been using for a while now and the noise is right around the 12500Hz frequency according to a could free sound analyzers on the Google Play store. I'm curious if anybody else has experienced this because apparently it's hard for most people to hear SSDs.

What laptop/netbook do you have? Are you certain your not hearing something different since you no longer have a mechanical drive drowning it out?

It's an ASUS K200MA. I'm sure it's the SSD because I pulled it out and plugged it into an external enclosure to measure the frequency.

hmmmm, only thing I could think that it would be is a transistor or something on the control board for power delivery, but they use so little I wouldnt think it would be that, but I guess you can never rule anything out....

Just found this video on YouTube, looks like SanDisk might be the culprit.

yes, I found the hard way SSDs are whiny little bitches - and they're more annoying than HDDs due to the hi freq squeal

my new 850 EVO is less noticeable, but my original SP550 was quite annoying

Yeah, the whining pierces me soul and even with a movie on it cuts right through any other audio. At least fan motors and mechanical drives get lost in the other audio.

Yeah, I think some of them have circuitry which whine...I remember my old Plextor M2P (from 2011) had this issue. I wonder if it's just the older SSDs that are affected.

 

My Sandisk Extreme 2 and Extreme Pro SSD are silent, same with my Crucial M500.

Out of 75x SSDs, only 1 have problem. Well that doesn't sound so bad.

 

About SSD whining ... that's the first time I hear about it. I had like 10 SSDs and non of them was making any kind of noise.

The only noise I got from one SSD was when I smashed it with hammer. Other than that, all have been dead silent.

 

If it's new SSD or still have warranty, just RMA it

The other 74+ SSDs are in servers in data centers minus a few SSDs in my desktop, external enclosures, and my other netbook. It wouldn't be a problem if my netbook was louder but my netbook is basically silent so the only noise in the room is the SSD.
