So I've just built my new PC, and I'm trying to install the drivers for my GTX 1060. Every time I try it tells me that "This NVIDIA Graphics Driver is not compatible with this version of Windows."

I have tried download from GeForce Experience and from the Nvidia website, both have the same result. I have tried restarting my PC, nothing...

I'm trying to download Version 372.54, 64-bit.

Help.

372.54

is now split in two

a W10 regular and the Anniversary Update one

and I think the regular update requires W10 to be the Nov 1511 build

do you have the A.U. installed ? check and download the proper one

open a CMD window and type in

ver
  • 14393 is A.U.
  • 1511 is the November one

anything lower than that you'll need to update your Win

"[Version 10.0.10240]"

Also, I just checked and the update I am downloading shoudl work for both.

mate, that's like the 1st RTM build

you need to update your Windows installation, the nViidia drivers require (not optional) the November update

Okay great haha. This is my first PC build so forgive my stupidity. I bought a disk copy of Win10 from Amazon.

How should I go about updating it?

Start -> Settings -> Update -> Check for Updates

for future reference - you can create a fresh media install (to the latest available build) with the Media Creation Tool: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

you can also use that tool to do a in-place upgrade of your install

Now I find that it has been downloading the Windows update in the background this whole time ahaha.

Thank you very much for your help :)

Actually the normal W10 drivers will work with the release version before November update also.

I seriously think the W10 A.U. versions are a little wonky...
