I'm new to modding/painting but I would like to paint the heat spreaders of my GSKILL RIPJAWS V http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231937

I planned on using a high heat spray paint, like auto, but should I get a sandpaper sponge to scrape off the current color or will it be okay to just go over it?

Also for taking the heat spreaders off will i need to use double sided tape for when i put the spreaders back on or is that not needed?

You should just be able to paint over it, and I doubt you need high temperature paint. RAM stays cool, pretty much all the time.

Put Primer on first like grey or something like that so the original color wont show thru. And i saw some dude just mask the connector off and paint the spreaders. And good spray paint wont come off

Like with the heat spreaders and PCB still together?

I have a guide here under Motherbaord and RAM Painting that goes over it, ideally you want to take the heat spreaders off the RAM for painting.
