Starting my first gaming pc build and I'm stuck on if I should choose AMD FX 8350 $219.99 or Intel i5 6500 $279.99. let me know what you think is better for power and why.

How about you give us your budget for your build and let us build it for you to ensure you get proper components and quality. But if you want, the i5 is much better.

The Core i5 6500 is likely to be best as it will have higher per core performance which games benefit from versus more, weaker cores.

Not sure if you live near a Microcenter, but if you have $280 to spend on a CPU, you can get an i7 5820k for about the same price.

It depends on you budget. The i5 is better, but an FX 8XXX wont really bottleneck anything much up to a 480/1060/970.

Well, here. I didn't include a case, that's up to your personal preference. You might also want to spend some extra on the mobo to get a prettier one, but I tried to keep costs as low as possible without compromising on an upgrade path. A cooler / SSD would also be interesting, but both can be added later if you want.

Next time, though, post it in the New Builds section. If you had a system already and were just looking for a CPU upgrade, here would be the place to ask. But for full builds, that other one would be better.
