Expresscard eGpu?

Go to solution Solved by mikat,

wait for the upcoming video, linus will investigate this in a future video, he teased it as the "poor man's core" so then you can see the benchmarks ;)

For a couple of years ago, before i actually knew anything about tech, i bought a laptop with a sucking graphics card. And because i don't have the money to actually buy a pc made for my usage, i tried to find other alternatives. Then i found this thingy to connect a full size gpu to an laptop through my expresscard slot, but they cost about 75$-120$, is it worth it, and can it possibly work without too much performance loss?

The use of PCI-e 1.0 puts a pretty harsh cap on the kind of performance you can expect, at least, is what has been my experience before finally building a desktop. I used the mPCI-e port where the wifi card went as my laptop lacked the ExpressCard port, however, bus speeds should be the same.
