Hello just built a new comp the other day. Its not running as smoothly as I thought it would. windows keeps freezing, 1080p videos take awhile to load. cs  Disk is always at 99% in task manager. memory seems high for running twitch and linus tec tips forum open. I seen on a linus video that you can check to see if comp is stable somehow I think it was an app.

Is windows doing a malware scan? I used to have a problem of windows doing a scan in middle of me gaming or something and maxing out my HDD, making everything extremely slow and freezing. Microsoft said there is nothing they can do about it nor can I disable the scanning. Continued to happen for months off an on. Upgrading to an SSD this still happens but the SSD is so fast it doesn't effect me.

If it is a new PC and a old drive then windows may be indexing. This is so that if you have to search for anything then the computer knows where this is. You can change the file's it index-es and pause it. Sorry have not had to do that in a while so just google how to pause windows indexing. For RAM are you using google chrome? How much RAM do you have? If you don't want windows defender then if you press start+r then type "msconfig" and go to the serves tab and scroll down until you see windows defender and select disable. While you are there you can change the black out time under boot, by default it will be 30 seconds but you can put it down to 3. If your are using windows 7 then you can also disable start up stuff that you dont use make sure you have AVAST or AVG first though.

Have you tried turning it off and on again?
