So... I'm really new to this... Sorry if I fail...

OK so I have an HP Envy. I dropped my laptop and the screen cracked and the laptop fan inside got out of place. Ever since then I've been using it as a desktop with an external fan. Now... while I was moving my laptop.. i heard this HUGE crack sound from the laptop fan (internal) and now whenever I boot up the PC... I get error messages saying a required device is missing and press enter to continue and all that... At first it would shut down after that error message in boot up.. By some miracle, after a day.. it works after boot-up.. However, now im afraid my laptop's gonna get fried/ and the performance is worse... For now I'm living with ice packs and external laptop fans... I don't know how long it will last... I need help/suggestions. I'm sure that my laptop may not get fried if I can handle this carefully, however, the computer is limiting itself and is being stubborn due to the fact a required device is missing. So I'm wondering if it is possible to register my external laptop fan (USB) as the internal laptop fan on my WINDOWS 10 Laptop... If this is not possible.. Is it smart to open up my laptop with this fan broken...? Are the tools expensive? Is the Fan expensive? And no, for those who are salty and wish to ruin one's day, I will not buy a new laptop due to my current circumstances. I forgot to mention... The internal fan isn't working AT ALL... like not moving at all.

Go to a computer repair shop if you don't want to touch it.

What model is the laptop

HP Envy... and a repair shop's like 230$? (at least costco is) (My warranty is gone) My parents wont even take me to one regardless ebcause they want me to stop gaming.. so im kinda on my own ordering things online to my friends house and repairing it myself. (im 15 btw)

Look, if you don't have much experience opening up electronics, I would not recommend opening up your laptop, since you may encounter delicate ribbon-like cables that break easily but power important components. Or even worse, reassemble it incorrectly causing heat issues.

There is most likely a proprietary cooling system in your laptop, and if you are going to replace the assembly with no prior knowledge, you will damage your components.

I doubt you will find the exact model blower fan assembly your laptop uses anyways, unless you buy the same laptop and harvest the cooling assembly.

To sum things up; Don't dive into a pool with no water. If you have no prior knowledge of the layout of your laptop and attempt to open the unit, you may damage your laptop.

But yea.. I prob won't open up my laptop...

You could with some regedits. Don't venture there though if you aren't extremely tech-savvy.

External cooling solutions will not solve your issue, as the heatsink that transfers heat away from your processor or graphics processor will not have active cooling, causing frequent thermal throttling.

By the way, saying "HP Envy" won't help anyone. Tell us the model, aka the exact unit you have. For example, HP Envy 13t-d100. This will lead me to find the HP ENVY Laptop (13.3").

Hmm should I get one of those vacuum external fans too? https://www.amazon.com/LC05-Cooling-Auto-Temp-Detection-Compatible/dp/B00XKU47Y2/ref=sr_1_sc_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1470712024&sr=8-1-spell&keywords=laptop+vaccume+cooler

This way it replaces the function of the internal fan?

Perhaps you should look at the Cooler Master NotePal X3 - Gaming Laptop Cooling Pad, it should cool your all aluminum chassis very well.

external blower fans are only good if you have vents on the sides, which i doubt a thin laptop would have. This cooler should fit within your 80$, as its currently only 32 bucks.

Get a product similar to the one i mentioned, it should be a much better solution than duct taping a desktop fan to a laptop. xD

Some type of cooling pad with a decent size fan and high RPM.

yea as I said I already have one for the bottom... would adding another one for the vent on my laptop be helpful or just a waste of money?

If you are having heating issues, that would be a good solution, but i would still recommend getting a multi-fan cooling pad of sorts. The one i mentioned only has one fan, so you should look into one like the Marvo FN-30 15 - 17 inch Gaming Laptop Powerful Cooling Pad

Keep in mind this is a knockoff. It should perform fine, but keep this in mind.

Read the middle, it says "Latop Cooling Stand" :S

Buy a fan of the same model from ebay and replace it.
