What OS to use?

so i need a OS for my storage server.

 

i was going to run windows home server for the built in drive extender, but finding a copy of that to install is near impossible.

 

so anyone know another simple OS that is easy to set up and has somethign very similar to WHS drive extender?

freenas works fine and has a good web control gui butyou need 4gb of ram minimum.

You can install FreeNAS in about 20 mins, create a basic partition and share it out with windows credentials. You don't have to take it any further!
