I recently built a brand new PC, all brand new components, but the Windows OS was not bought legitimately. Everything was running fine and dandy, when the whole computer freezes, no error signs, no shutdown, just a dead stop and can't do anything. Has happened four times and all four times it happened within 15 minutes of the computer being on.

Mother board: ASUS Z-170

Ram: 2x sticks of 8GB, G Skill TIPJAWS

CPU: Intel i5-6500 Skylake 3.2 GHz

SSD: Kingston 240 GB v300

HardDrive: WD Black 2TB

CPU Cooler: Corsair Hydro Series H50 120mm

NOTE: The SSD was checked to see if it was a bad SSD, was not the case and ran fine on another system

Try it with one stick of ram and if it's fine then try another one and see if that one is a problem. If the ram isn't the problem it might be your motherboard.

There's a laundry list of possible suspects. Usually, in my experience anyway, freezes were the result of a faulty PSU failing to deliver stable power. Sometimes less-than-stellar manufactures don't make the cut for good ones. Second, I'd wager it could have been a corrupted install of Windows; with it being non-genuine (not judging, just saying), it's possible it doesn't want to play nice with all your components. Third, it could be a virus but your system seems pretty new, not sure if a virus would even have time to infiltrate (unless your browsing habits aren't the greatest).

Solution? Go legit. I know it sucks but frankly it can solve a lot of issues down the road. Second, reset your components (RAM, CPU, SSD, etc) and unplug/plug everything back in. You can also try installing Windows your HDD and see if that changes things.

EDIT: Didn't even mention overheating; check to make sure your processor has been seated correctly and the thermal paste applied. Even a millimeter of distance can cause temps to skyrocket.

Just have, it seemed to run longer than before, however I definitely believe its the motherboard (going to get Windows 10 legit). I'll do some more digging into what could be wrong with said Mobo

I've just installed a legit Windows 10 DVD from Newegg, it did run and everything was running smoothly until it froze again. At this point I have no idea what the issue is. It would be a big help if you could refer a company (I.E. Geek Squad, Nerds To Go) to see if one of them could possibly help me out.  Much thanks!

Legit software is fine and all, but unlikely to be behind your problem.

Have you monitored the temperatures this time?
