Hi everyone,

So every time I turn on my laptop I get past the Sony logo, and Windows logo with the white spinning ball, but after that where the log in screen is supposed to be I get a black screen which flashes white at random moments. I've tried to boot into safe mode but the same thing happenes. Currently I assume I'm screwed.

Ok this might be a virus (doubt it) but first you should make a bootable usb using the media creation tool from windows then use the troubleshooting options to fix your issue (I would first try startup repair then sfc  in command prompt and if that fails chkdsk)

The logo screen is not messed up at all

doesn't mean that a hardware issue isn't causing it, it could simply be your GPU overheating by the time it gets there. It sounds like a GPU issue, are you using onboard graphics or a card?

Troubleshooting a pc will make you believe in gremlins.

Onboard graphics

could be a failing northbridge or GPU, i used to have this same problem, would boot fine until windows loaded then my screen went nuts and started flashing. (also didn't notice you said it was a laptop). If its under warranty get it RMA'd otherwise I'd have it examined.

I mean it's not going nuts it's just flickering white

Edit: I don't think it's failing gpu because with some Sony computers you get a "web" and "Assist" button which both load up perfectly fine
