GTX 1070 poor performance

Hi,

I just bought a GTX 1070 but the performance is not what i expected.

When I use the 368.81 from nVidia, i can only get 25-35 fps in Rise of the Tomb Raider (benchmark), after I dongraded to 368.39 i can get 100+

But in WoW WoD (ultra) I can only get 40-60, I tried uninstalling the driver using DDU and reinstall it, also changed the power management to high performance, sitll no effect.

Also, changing AA setting does not seem to affect the fps.

Can anyone please help me?

Setup :

ASUS Strix 1070

Core i5 4690

16Gb RAM

Gigabyte H97 Gaming 3

PS. Sorry for my bad English

Thanks!

I believe WoW in ultra is taxing your CPU and not your GPU and that's why you're seeing a bottleneck. For MMOs and Strategy games you generally need a far better processor than a GPU (or at least equally high end). Dial back some of the on-screen character models and draw distance to reduce draw calls on WoW it should help a lot.

If your CPU usage is 90-100% and your GPU usage is lower than that then u have a CPU bottleneck.

Newer drivers dont mean BETTER drivers.

Check CPU and GPU usage for each game. Check temperatures as well.

If downgraded drivers work, stick with those. They're probably just more stable.

Either you do indeed have a bottleneck in your system or you are facing the same problem that many 1070 owner and myself have faced. My 1070 worked great for a day and then the performance was questionable for the card (still had better performance than you). Just reinstalled windows and that seemed to fix most peoples issue. Had Borderlands Pre-Seq go from 50 - 70 fps on 1440p maxed to 90 - 160 fps. If your cpu is not running 100% reinstall windows.

There are countless threads on this on the blizzard forums.

7.0.3 just released 2 weeks ago.

Please if you use add-ons make sure they are up to date. Disable any add-ons you can't update at this time.

The pre-legion "ultra" is "7" on the slider now. If you weren't aware of this and set it to 10 this will effect the fps.

You also don't mention the resolution of your monitor...

What is your cpu, and mhz , wow is heavily single threaded so this will impact the fps.

WoW=CPU(what happens in the game environment)+GPU(how much eye candy and how pretty)

Thanks for the help guys,

Will check the CPU, I agree that bottleneck might be the problem because my GPU is running full clock speed but the temp is only around 55-57 under load (WoW).

My CPU is i5 4690 3.5Ghz and playing at 1080p

I have a 6700k at 4.5, and SLI 1070s

1080p, both settings at 10 (maxxed out), MSAA 8/8

In cities 90-140 fps

In raid 60-75 fps

I have tried everything (not including reinstalling windows) because rise of tomb raider and shadow of mordor showed 100+ fps

I used hwinfo to check the load of the CPU and GPU and I think the result is strage :

GPU :

max core usage = 80%

max D3D usage = 100%

max temp = 59%

CPU :

total cpu usage (max) = 78%

highest core usage = 88.5% (core #3)

max threaded usage = 88.5%

Any ideas?
